The Cowboys - Disappointing NFL season

When the current NFL season started, many were expecting the Cowboys to be one of the best football teams due to the number of skilled and talented players on their roster, but the reality is that they finished the 2008 NFL season at 9-7 and didn’t made it to the NFL playoffs. Disappointing is the word that jumps to mind.

Another fact which is not of the likes of Dallas’ fans is that their football team hadn’t made it to the big game since 95’ and most importantly, they haven’t won in January since 1996.

Last season proved to be better for the Cowboys as they went 13-3 and brought back the outstanding number of thirteen pro-bowlers this year, so everything was set for them to do great, well, they didn’t.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, even spent a lump sum of $135 million in contract extensions and bonuses but even money couldn’t allow the Cowboys to be part of the Super Bowl. One of Jones’ major expenses was the yearly salary of Offensive Coordinator Jason Garrett who is now making $3 million. The move came in the hopes that Garrett would not go to Baltimore to become head coach.

Another big move: How can we forget about the $45 million dollar contract that wide receiver Roy Williams got after being acquired from the Lions for such sum of money and 3 draft picks?
But in despite of such expensive moves, the Cowboys paid their owner with a disappointing season led by players and coaching staff that didn’t deliver as expected.

A funny fact is that the Cowboys entered the current NFL season as a Super Bowl-or-nothing kind of team, but sadly, they could not even make it beyond the regular season.
Sure, to go from 13-3 to 9-7 must hurt.
