Worst Football injuries

Recapitulating through memorable moments in the NFL history, there is no way we can only remember the good times, there have also been times we all remember that are just awful: NFL injuries. Unfortunately, although some are a bit funny, some NFL players have even died due to an NFL game injury which is incredibly sad, yet they are worth to be remembered perhaps as a tribute, and perhaps as a reminder. Here are the worst injuries in the NFL I have personally compiled:

  • In 1979, St. Louis Cardinals tight end J.V. Cain had a heart attack during training camp and died. This one may not be entirely related to playing the game itself but his heart failure was in fact caused by the extreme training he gave to his body.

  • Korey Stringer of the Minnesota Vikings also died during training camp due to a heatstroke. Heat during the training camp practice season has been an issue for years now.

  • Thomas Herrion of the San Francisco 49ers died in the locker room during an exhibition game against the Broncos. It was 65-degrees that evening in Denver.

  • Chris Simms ruptured his spleen during a game against Carolina Panthers; fortunately he survived to this particular NFL injury.

  • In 1985, While playing for the Washington Redskins, Joe Theisman had his leg snapped, putting him out of football forever. His injury was voted NFL's "Most Shocking Moment in History". He career ended due to the severity of the injury.

Many other NFL stars have suffered shocking injuries over the years, in some cases their injuries we the mile stone to prevent similar accidents from happening in the NFL later on and although some were irreversible, at least they did count as part of great changes made in the safety of the NFL players.
